Invensys went through an initial recovery and achieved a significant increase in share price. Much was due to Rick’s leadership. In January he described the conditions in terms of the organisational and market position and the rumours surrounding the company. He addressed the issue of how does one take an organisation that is totally action oriented with significant areas of dysfunctionality and start to build a learning culture. In October he continued with the story of the next 300 days and again asked: "How does one clear the space for learning?"
