Delta7 Change Process: stage 2 – Engage

In the first phase of the Engage stage, we seek input from employees from across the organisation. This ensures that the story reflects their day to day experience and concerns as well as those of the leadership. Only then is the final picture signed off.
In the second phase of the Engage stage, we roll out Visual Dialogue sessions to the target audience. This could number from a few hundred to several thousands. Not only do the employees get the chance to understand and interact with the strategic content coming from the leadership team, but the leadership team discovers things about the employee experience they’d be unlikely to otherwise hear.
Process
- Employee input sessions and redrafting
We run group sessions and/or one-on-one interviews with employees from across the organisation using the output picture from the Clarify stage to gather employee input and enrich the final picture. This ensures that the picture not only accurately represents the cares and concerns of the leadership team and those of the employees but the point at which they overlap. - Session design
We work with our clients to design roll-out sessions to deliver the agreed objectives. We will set up measurement criteria to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the roll-out sessions. In order to generate quantitative feedback on the success of the intervention we can either create a distinct survey portal for employees to access, or integrate specific questions into existing measurement tools. - Facilitation training
We provide Visual Dialogue facilitation training for a team of your staff to ensure sustainability of the roll out process and uniformity of experience for participants across the organization. This training will equip your people to handle the practical and emotional aspects of running a successful Visual Dialogue session and will be backed up by a range of supporting materials. - Roll out
Typically, we will work with your designated Roll Out Managers to help plan the roll out across different parts of your organization. Key to the roll out will be your core facilitation teams as they will be responsible for successful delivery and the quality of the feedback and data the sessions produce. The roll out of your Visual Dialogue programme can integrate effectively with any large-scale conferences and events you may already have planned. At these events, the Visual Dialogue session can either be run as a stand-alone unit, with multiple groups being run in parallel, or as a backdrop to the entire event, with each segment (talks / Q&As / workgroups etc.) being integrated through the structure of the picture.
Benefits
Increased understanding:
Because the picture shows employees the strategic content in a form that they can relate to, and because it incorporates elements of their direct experience, they are much more to understand the story of change, but also interact and ask questions about the parts they don’t understand.
Increased motivation:
Visual Dialogue motivates staff by creating a visual link between their day-to-day activities and the overall corporate strategy. It helps them see how the choices they make affect the overall success of the company. It is also a powerful message that they are being listened to in this process of change.
High quality feedback:
Because the Big Picture is created with direct input from the employees themselves, it already contains representations of many of their anxieties, encouraging them to engage in open and honest dialogue. The feedback generated in these Visual Dialogue sessions provides valuable insights for the leadership team to evaluate.
Next Steps:
With the case for change made clear and meaningful by the rollout of the Big Picture, the next step is Act where we help your organisation to explore exactly what needs to change at a local level and support individuals take personal responsibility for that behaviour.
